My name is Lee Ellis and I've been involved with animals for most of my life. As a child I was surrounded by dogs as my father bred English Pointers. Cats entered my life when I was in my teens and since then I've been living side by side with both dogs and cats.

I have been involved in animal health for the past several years. One of my cats had Inflammatory Bowel Disease for years and in the summer of 2000, after experimenting with several types of prescription and commercial foods and prescribed drugs, my vet suggested I feed her a raw diet made up of raw meat, ground up bones and supplements. In short, she was cured of all her symptoms after the first meal and since then, I have switched my other animals to raw foods.

I run an internet support group for owners of cats with inflammatory bowel disease, as well as a list for cat owners, Canadian Natural Cats, who feed raw food and treat their pets naturally using homeopathy, herbs and other alternative treatments. In October, 2001, I was interviewed on the benefits of feeding raw food by students from Ryerson Polytechnic University. In August, 2002, I was interviewed by Catnip magazine for an article on the treatment of Feline IBD. The magazine is a publication of Tufts University, a veterinary school based in Massachusetts. In April, 2005, I was featured in Dogs in Canada magazine in an article about professional dog walkers.

I've attended several seminars dealing with raw feeding and alternative treatment, and am certified in Pet First Aid. I am experienced in giving medication, insulin and subcutaneous fluids.

I am the founder of the Canadian Pet Sitters and Dog Walkers group. The purpose of the group is to bring pet sitters and dog walkers from across Canada together to discuss the various issues we face every day, and also helps people who are thinking of becoming pet sitters and dog walkers to decide if this is the type of career they're looking for.
